Short Stay Car Park

Official

Two-minute walk from T1 doors, priced by the hour

The Short Stay Car Park at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International (MRU) sits directly in front of Terminal 1, about a 2-minute walk from the departures and arrivals doors. It’s the official airport option for quick parking, set up for drop-offs, pick-ups, and very short trips where being right at the terminal matters more than price.

This lot runs on hourly, tiered pricing from 1 to 8 hours, so it suits same-day use more than multi-day trips. Independent airport info sites flag it as the short-term zone, with charges climbing as you get closer to the 8-hour mark. Past that window, the cost usually stops making sense compared with longer-stay parking at MRU.

The car park sits immediately next to the main T1 building, so there’s no shuttle bus, no waiting time, and no need to factor in a separate transfer. From a parked car in Short Stay to the security queue in T1, most drivers quote a total of 5–7 minutes, including grabbing luggage and walking across.

Signage at MRU points you to the official Short Stay / short-term area as you approach the terminal access road. Lanes split a few hundred meters before T1; stay in the clearly marked short-term section rather than the drop-off lane if you plan to leave the vehicle for more than a couple of minutes. Payment is usually handled at on-site machines before you exit the barrier.

Tip: Use Short Stay for anything under about 4–5 hours (meeting an arriving flight, quick check-in run, or same-day hop); for overnight or longer, switch to an official long-stay option to avoid paying hourly short-term rates.
