Burger King

$$$$

$6–$9 gets you familiar fast food at MKE’s Main terminal

This Burger King sits post-security in the Main terminal and is the default move at General Mitchell when you just want something you recognize. Think Whopper, chicken fries, and basic breakfast sandwiches instead of fish fries and cheese curds. Prices run a couple dollars higher than a street-side BK, but still cheaper than most sit-down spots at MKE, which is why one reviewer said they chose it on price alone.

Menu is the standard national lineup: Whopper meals, Bacon King, chicken sandwiches, nuggets, and kids’ meals, plus hash browns and croissan’wiches in the morning before about 10:30 a.m. Combos usually land in the $9–$13 range depending on size. Drink refills come from a self-serve fountain, so you can top off a soda before heading to a gate in the C concourse.

Service pace gets mixed reviews. Several travelers mention 10–20 minute waits even with only 4–6 people in line when they’re running with just two staff on the grill and counter. Lines spike during the 5–8 a.m. departure bank and again around the midday rush, so build in a buffer if your boarding time is within 30 minutes. Food can sit: people call out lukewarm fries and burgers that feel like they waited on the heat rack too long.

Regular MKE flyers treat this place as a backup plan. They swing by only when traveling with picky kids who just want nuggets or when there’s under 25 minutes before boarding and they can’t risk a slower bar-and-grill. When kiosks are turned on, locals head straight there to order instead of the counter, which can shave 5 minutes off in a short line.

Tip: If your connection is tight, order a basic Whopper or nuggets, skip customizations, and ask for fresh fries at the register; that combo usually comes out fastest and hottest.
