Workers ride Route 37 to MIA long before most flights board

Metrobus Route 37 is Miami-Dade Transit’s north–south bus spine between Miami International Airport (MIA) and South Dade, running daily from early morning through late night along NW 37th Avenue / Douglas Road. The route pulls directly into the MIA Airport Station at the airport’s Central Terminal, tying the terminals into neighbourhoods like Westchester, Coral Way, and South Miami for the standard $2.25 regular fare. This is the line airport and Blue Lagoon corridor staff actually use, not a premium airport coach.

At the airport end, Metrobus Route 37 stops on the ground level at the MIA Airport Station, which connects upstairs to the MIA Mover and then into the North, Central, and South terminal concourses in about 5–10 minutes of walking and riding. You pay on board with an EASY Card, EASY Ticket, or $2.25 cash (exact change only) at the front door. Buses typically come every 15–30 minutes in daytime and can stretch closer to 30 minutes or more at night or on Sundays.

Along the way, Route 37 passes key job clusters near the airport, including stretches around Blue Lagoon Drive and NW 7th Street that sit 1–2 miles from the MIA terminals. The route then continues south toward Douglas Road Metrorail Station at US‑1, giving a one-transfer path from MIA to Metrorail’s Green and Orange lines. If you are hotel‑hopping around West Flagler or Coral Way, this is often the only single‑seat bus ride from the airport, but it is built around worker shift times, not airline schedules.

Service on Route 37 still runs if your flight lands late, but the headways widen after about 9–10 p.m. and trips can feel slow as the bus stops frequently along a long corridor. Expect about 25–40 minutes from MIA to Douglas Road Station depending on traffic along NW 37th Avenue and signals near Coral Way and Bird Road. There are no luggage racks on these standard 40‑foot buses, so plan on keeping suitcases by your seat or in the aisle area.

For a smoother connection, follow airport signs to “MIA Mover / Rental Car Center,” ride the MIA Mover up to MIA Airport Station in about 3–4 minutes, then head down one level to the Metrobus bays and look for bay signage listing Route 37. Build a 15–20 minute buffer into your schedule for walking, the MIA Mover ride, and any wait for the next bus before a time‑sensitive meeting or check‑in.
