Gate D12 is where the Centurion Lounge crowding starts
This Centurion Lounge sits in Terminal D by gate D12, in the Central Terminal near the Concourse D connector, and regulars say it’s “packed to the rafters” more often than not. It runs daily from 05:00 to 22:00, so timing matters more than the Amex logo here.
Access is airside in the Central Terminal, near the connector that links Concourse D with the rest of MIA’s North and South sides, so you’re fine for any Terminal D departure. Figure 5–10 minutes’ walk from the mid-D gates like D20–D25, and a bit more if you’re out near D45+.
The food spread rotates, but think hot dishes plus salads and snacks that beat most MIA gate options near D12. Drinks include made-to-order cocktails and decent wine and beer, all included with entry during the 05:00–22:00 window, so the value is there if you can actually sit down.
Seating is the weak point: FlyerTalk posters say Amex lounges here feel “full to capacity” almost every visit, especially 07:00–10:00 and 16:00–20:00 near gates like D10–D20. If you walk in during those peaks, expect to circle more than once hunting for a free chair.
Showers exist, but they’re not obvious. One FlyerTalk regular says you have to ask staff just to the right of the entry door once you’re inside, and they’ll manage the list. Don’t wait for signage; walk up, ask about a shower, and get on the queue early if you land in D from an overnight flight.
What regulars actually do: they enter with low expectations for seating, grab the first usable spot near an outlet, then tag-team food and drink runs rather than both browsing the buffet by D12 at once. If they want a shower, they ask staff within the first 2–3 minutes of entry.
Practical tip: If your flight from Terminal D boards within about 60 minutes, skip the Centurion and head to a gate bar; save this lounge for longer layovers when you can afford 10–15 minutes of potential seat hunting.
