Gate area near security is where you’ll find Runway 28

Just past the main security checkpoint in the Main Terminal, Runway 28 is the sit-down option before you head to the smaller gate area at Montgomery Regional (MGM). It’s signed simply as “Runway 28” on airport maps and sits on the landside-to-airside path most people take to gates 1–4, so you won’t walk far out of your way to eat here.

Hours track the flight schedule, opening early for the first departures around 4:30–5:00 a.m. and usually closing after the last evening bank. On lighter days, staff may shut the kitchen closer to the final outbound flight, so if your departure is after 7:30 p.m., don’t assume you can grab a full meal and have a backup plan like grab-and-go from a newsstand cooler.

The menu runs mostly American bar-and-grill standards: burgers, chicken sandwiches, simple salads, and fries, all at typical small-airport prices in the $10–$18 range for mains. Beer and basic mixed drinks are available at the bar, which stretches along the center of the space, with drafts usually a couple of dollars cheaper than cocktails. If you just need Wi‑Fi and a place to charge, it’s one of the few spots in the terminal with table seating and line-of-sight to your boarding area.

Service pace tends to match MGM’s small operation; when a CRJ or E175 departs, the entire restaurant can turn over in about 20–30 minutes. Build in at least 40 minutes if you want a sit-down meal before a flight. Tip: if a flight to ATL or CLT is boarding in under 25 minutes at your gate, skip table service here and grab something to go instead.
