Runway 28

American · Casual Dining

Main Terminal $$$$

Runway 28 sits in MGM’s Main Terminal as the default dine-in option.

This is the airport’s sit-down American spot in the Main Terminal, useful when you have 45–90 minutes and want a chair, real plate, and a server instead of another grab-and-go box. Pricing runs in the midrange ($$), so think casual chain-level tabs rather than fast food or steakhouse splurge.

You’ll find standard American casual dining: burgers, sandwiches, salads, and usually a couple of heavier mains. Figure burger-and-fries territory in the low-to-mid teens, with soft drinks or basic beer and wine adding a few dollars. Portions tend to match typical airport sit-down places, not tiny tapas portions and not giant road‑house platters.

Runway 28 operates inside the secure side of the Main Terminal, so clear TSA first, then eat; don’t plan this as a pre-checkpoint meet-up spot for local friends. MGM is small, so even if your gate changes between the half-dozen or so options, you’re maybe a 3–5 minute walk from your table to boarding.

Menu focus leans on quick-to-fire items: grilled chicken sandwiches, club sandwiches, and basic salads usually hit the table faster than anything pan-seared or pasta-based. If you only have 30–40 minutes before boarding, skip anything that sounds like a “special” or involves multiple sides and go straight for a burger or wrap.

There’s very little online chatter about Runway 28 on Yelp or Reddit, which tells you it mostly serves people once, in transit, and not locals driving out for dinner. Expect ordinary airport food at a regional field, not a destination meal. Think of it as a place to sit, charge a phone at the table, and get a hot plate before your Montgomery–Atlanta or Montgomery–Dallas hop.

Tip: MGM security can bunch up around early-morning and late-afternoon bank flights; clear TSA first, then head to Runway 28 so you’re not staring at your watch while a burger sits in front of you.
