The Public Parking lot at Managua’s Augusto C. Sandino International sits directly in front of the Main terminal, so you’re about a 2-minute walk from your car to the check-in counters. It’s an open-air surface lot with no covered sections, so your car sits in full Nicaraguan sun and rain the whole time.

Pricing is posted locally in córdobas by the hour: roughly C$20 per hour for light vehicles and C$50 per hour for semi-heavy vehicles, with no clearly advertised daily maximum. That means the quoted long-stay rate of around US$11.47 per day is more of a guideline than a hard cap, and multi-day trips can stack up quickly if you just roll in and pay hourly at the gate.

Most reviews say the lot is mainly used for short daytime stops, airport drop-offs, or quick same-day hops out of MGA. Locals on Google Maps flat-out call the tarifas altas para el país, especially when a taxi or rideshare into Managua can undercut several hours of parking at C$20 per hour. For anything longer than a one-night trip, regular flyers tend to rethink leaving a car here.

Operationally, Public Parking is basic: attendants are present at the entrance and exit, tickets are checked manually, and that manual process can create a small queue around peak midday departures between about 11:00 and 14:00. Payment is still very cash-oriented, and a few recent reviews mention card terminals occasionally failing, sending people back into the terminal to find an ATM.

What regulars do: they either get dropped off, grab a taxi, or use nearby guesthouses and B&Bs that include parking while they travel, instead of letting the C$20-per-hour meter run for several days. If you do park here, bring enough córdobas for your expected hours plus a buffer, and snap a quick photo of your car’s position so you’re not wandering rows in 30°C heat on return.
