ComfortZone

Gate-side at McAllen’s Main Terminal, ComfortZone is your sit-down option.

ComfortZone sits past security in the Main Terminal at McAllen Miller International Airport (MFE), a short walk from the single gate area. It’s one of the few places here where you can actually sit, order from a menu, and keep an eye on the small departures board without standing at a kiosk or grabbing from a cooler.

Hours usually track the flight schedule, opening ahead of the first morning departures and closing after the last evening flights, so assume roughly 5:00 a.m. through early evening on most days. Because MFE traffic dips in the middle of the day, the kitchen can slow down, so don’t cut it close: give yourself 30 minutes for a burger or hot sandwich and 15 minutes for coffee and a pastry.

Menu basics lean American: think burgers, breakfast plates with eggs and bacon, and simple sandwiches in the $10–$18 range, with soft drinks and coffee around $3–$5. If you’re comparing to the vending machines near baggage claim, the markup is real but not outrageous for an airport this size, and you at least get a chair, real plate, and someone refilling your drink.

Alcohol service depends on local rules, but expect domestic beer by the bottle and a couple of standard mixed drinks when it’s legal to pour, usually priced around $7–$10. Don’t expect a deep wine list or craft cocktail setup; this is more “quick drink before the 90‑minute hop to Houston” than lounge bar. If you want something specific, ask what they actually have in stock before committing.

Service pace shifts with each bank of flights, since staffing is lean and the same person may be handling checks and takeout. Build in an extra 10 minutes if you see one or two full tables already seated. Tip: if your boarding pass shows Group 1 or Preboard, pay your bill as soon as food hits the table so you can walk to the single gate as soon as they call your group.
