Employee Parking Lot

Restricted

Shuttle buses from the MEM employee lot run on shift-change cycles.

The Employee Parking Lot at Memphis International Airport is a restricted facility for airline, TSA, concession, and airport staff only, not the flying public. Access runs through the airport’s ID office, which handles all employee parking questions by phone and email instead of the main parking desk. You need a valid airport-issued ID and authorization on file before you can get a space in this lot.

This lot sits in a more remote area of the airport campus, away from passenger garages and daily parking near Terminals A, B, and C. Because of the distance, employees rely on an internal shuttle system that loops between the lot and the terminal areas. Shuttle schedules line up with major shift times for airlines, TSA, and concessions, rather than passenger bank times or flight departures.

Workers report that the shuttle is usually OK, but at shift changes it can get crowded and occasionally cause minor delays getting to work. One frequent comment: plan an extra 10–15 minutes before your report time to cover potential backup at the shelters. Cars parked without valid permits risk tickets or towing, and enforcement focuses on checking for the correct employee hangtag or plate authorization.

Inside the lot, some staff complain about the walking distance when the spaces closest to shuttle shelters fill up. Regulars try to park near the specific shelter they know gets picked up first on their route, especially for tight early-morning or late-night shifts. Practical tip: if you’re a new MEM hire, call or email the ID office before your first day so your parking access is active and you’re not stuck in public parking paying passenger rates.
