$10 per day beats the garage fast for 3+ day trips
MDT’s Long Term Parking Lot runs a flat $10.00 per day, taxes included, which is roughly half of what you’ll pay in the garage once you cross a long weekend. Locals use a simple rule: around 3 days or more, they move the car here and pocket the difference.
The lot sits about 1 mile east of the Main terminal on Airport Drive, so this is not a walk-in option. You park, head to a numbered shuttle shelter, and ride in. Figure roughly 15 minutes door to door from your row to the terminal curb when you include a short wait.
Airport signage says shuttles run 24/7 every 15 minutes, but local guides quote travelers seeing them more like every 7–10 minutes in busier windows. Late-night or very early-morning departures still get service, but build in an extra cycle if your flight leaves around 5:00 a.m.
This is the on-airport option for larger vehicles, with a posted clearance around 14 feet versus the Main garage’s 7′8″ limit. RVs, tall vans, and work trucks that would tag the garage ceiling go here by default.
Payment is straightforward: grab a ticket on entry and either pay a cashier at the exit, use the walk-up machines near the baggage claim/Skybridge, or go ticketless with credit-card express. XpressPARK members still earn 1 point per $1 in this lot, same as the garage.
Trade-off is control versus cost: you’re tied to a shuttle instead of a 3-minute walk from the garage. Some hyper-punctual types either pay garage rates or drop down to off-site options like Cramer Airport Parking at about $9/day or even the Middletown Amtrak lot around $2/day. Last tip: for morning flights, park 30 minutes earlier than you would for the garage to absorb a full shuttle cycle.
