OMR 20 gets you into Primeclass Lounge when Oman Air shuts you out.
This contract lounge in T1 runs 24/7 and mainly catches passengers who don’t qualify for the Oman Air First or Business lounges. Location shifts with contracts, so follow the “Primeclass” signs after security in Terminal 1 and budget 5–10 minutes’ walk from most international gates.
Access is straightforward: First and Business Class on participating airlines walk in, everyone else can buy a day pass at about OMR 20, roughly USD 50–55 at current rates. If your airline gives you a choice between Oman Air’s lounge and Primeclass, regulars on FlyerTalk lean Oman Air and only land here as the backup.
Food is functional rather than exciting: think a small hot buffet with 4–6 trays, a few cold salads, and packaged snacks. Multiple Tripadvisor reviews call it “limited” and repetitive, so plan on a bite before a 2–3 hour layover, not a six-hour grazing session. Coffee machines, soft drinks and basic spirits are self-serve; don’t expect a staffed bar or premium labels.
Primeclass does score points with free showers, which several reviewers highlight as a plus compared with some contract lounges that charge extra. Figure 3–5 shower rooms, stocked with basic amenities; bring your own higher-end toiletries if that matters. In peak overnight banks around 23:00–02:00, you may need to wait 10–20 minutes for a shower key.
Sleep options exist but are scarce: FlyerTalk users estimate fewer than 10 actual nap rooms. These go fast during Muscat’s widebody departure waves, especially around midnight, so don’t assume one will be available on arrival. If you land and really need horizontal rest, ask reception for a nap room within the first 5 minutes.
Crowding is the other theme in Tripadvisor reviews: during busy banks, almost every seat fills and passengers say window-side chairs disappear first, leaving only interior armchairs in the middle zone. Power outlets are scattered, so if you see a free seat with two sockets nearby, claim it before you hit the buffet.
What regulars do: if they hold access to Oman Air’s business lounge, they go there and skip Primeclass entirely; otherwise they use Primeclass mainly for a shower and a snack, then head back to the gate 45–50 minutes before boarding. One practical tip: on a long layover, eat in the terminal first, then use your OMR 20 Primeclass visit for showers, Wi‑Fi and a short nap rather than a full meal.
