SunRail via Lynx: rail link from MCO to downtown Orlando

From Orlando International Airport, you reach SunRail by combining Lynx bus routes from Terminals A/B or C with the train at Sand Lake Road or Lynx Central stations. This is for people who like trains, want to skip rental cars, and don’t mind a transfer. Total trip airport-to-SunRail usually runs 45–75 minutes depending on timing.

SunRail itself runs roughly 5 a.m.–10 p.m. on weekdays only, with 30–60 minute gaps between trains, and no service on weekends or major holidays. Fares on SunRail start at about $2 per one-way trip within a single zone, with small upcharges for more zones. Lynx local bus fares sit around $2 per ride, so budget $4–6 each way for the full airport-to-rail combo.

From Terminals A and B, follow signs to the Ground Transportation Level (Level 1) and look for the Lynx stops near A-side bays A38–A41 and B-side bays B38–B41. Route numbers and bays change, but current connections to SunRail often use routes like Lynx 11 or 51 toward Sand Lake Road or downtown, with stops near SunRail stations including Sand Lake Road and Lynx Central. Always check the latest routes and times on the Lynx site or app before you ride.

Terminal C passengers can walk or ride the terminal shuttle to Terminals A/B in about 5–10 minutes to reach the main Lynx stops on Level 1, or use any current Lynx routing that serves Terminal C directly if available. Some buses run only every 30–60 minutes off-peak, so missing one can add real time to your trip. Plan your flight arrival against both bus and SunRail timetables; landing after 8 p.m. on a weekday can be tight for northbound trains.

For tickets, Lynx takes cash (exact change) and contactless options on many buses, while SunRail has ticket vending machines at each station that accept cards and cash. Keep at least $10–15 handy if you’re not sure about zones, since a one-way airport-to-downtown combo (bus plus rail) usually stays under that. Hold on to your SunRail ticket, as conductors check on board between stations.

One last tip: build a buffer of at least 30 minutes between your planned bus arrival at a SunRail station like Sand Lake Road and the train you want. If the bus runs late or baggage at MCO takes longer than 25–30 minutes, you’ll be glad you aimed for the earlier connection instead of the last possible train.
