Bus

Route 51 runs hourly between MCO and south Orange County jobs

Lynx Route 51 is the workhorse bus for airport and tourism staff moving between Orlando International Airport and neighborhoods along South Orange Avenue and Orange Blossom Trail. The line serves Terminals A and B at MCO and connects the airport to employment corridors in southern Orange County instead of downtown Orlando or the big theme parks on I-4.

The bus operates roughly every 60 minutes on weekdays and weekends, with first trips starting in the early morning and service running into the evening; check the current Lynx timetable for exact times because spans shift by season. A single adult fare is typically under $2 per ride, with options to buy day passes or multi-day passes from Lynx sales outlets or on other routes before you board.

At the airport, Route 51 boards at the ground transportation level under Terminal A/B, near the other Lynx stops signed in purple with the paw-print logo and route numbers. Expect a curbside shelter, basic seating, and posted schedules; there is no boarding point at Terminal C, so Terminal C passengers usually ride the airport train or shuttle over to the main terminal in under 10 minutes.

On the city side, Route 51 runs along key corridors like South Orange Avenue and serves residential areas where many airport and tourism workers live. Trips from these southern neighborhoods to MCO typically take between 30 and 50 minutes, depending on where you board and traffic along SR-528 or adjacent arterials at shift-change peaks.

Payment on Lynx buses is straightforward: you can pay cash on board with exact change (drivers do not make change) or tap a Lynx fare card or mobile ticket, which you buy before riding; a basic one-day pass is usually around $4.50. Buses offer standard transit seating and overhead grab rails, and many runs carry airport workers with uniforms and gear, so plan space if you bring large luggage.

If you are heading to or from work at MCO, build at least a 15-minute buffer on either side of the posted Route 51 time to cover security queues, clock-in rules, and the occasional Central Florida downpour that slows airport traffic.
