Gate-side basics in Terminal A when you just need something
Hudson News in Terminal A is the grab-it-and-go stop when you just realized at Gate 16 your water bottle is empty and your headphones are dying. Standard airport pricing: expect $3–$4 for bottled drinks, $2–$3 for candy or gum, and paperbacks in the $12–$20 range. It’s post-security on the A side, so you don’t have to backtrack through the main terminal to restock the basics.
Hours usually track the first and last banks of flights on the A concourse, roughly 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with earlier opening on heavy morning departure days. Shelves lean toward national paperbacks and bestsellers, plus Orlando themes for kids’ books and coloring pads. You’ll also see the usual rack of neck pillows and $10–$20 travel chargers if you forgot yours in the hotel.
For food and drink, figure on chilled sodas and sports drinks in the 20–28 oz range, single-serve chips and nuts, and a small fridge of prepacked sandwiches. It’s fine for a 2-hour hop to ATL or CLT; skip this for real meals and head toward the food court by the A security checkpoint instead. Branded souvenirs live here too, including basic “Orlando” T‑shirts and keychains under $15.
Quick tip: stop here right after clearing A-side security rather than waiting until you reach your gate area; stock runs deeper earlier in the concourse and you’ll have better odds of grabbing cold drinks and the last working phone cable.
