Right off the A/B train in the atrium, it’s McDonald’s
As soon as you step off the MCO terminal train into the main atrium, McDonald’s sits in the Terminal A food court as the familiar yellow arches in a sea of slower options. It’s landside, above the check-in level, so both arriving and departing passengers can use it without clearing security first. Think of this as the grab-and-go anchor of the atrium food court cluster, not a destination meal.
Figure standard McDonald’s pricing: a basic combo meal usually lands around $9–$12, which is on the lower end for Orlando Airport. The menu tracks closely with a typical US outlet, so you’ll see Big Macs, McNuggets, Quarter Pounders, and breakfast staples like Egg McMuffins and hash browns in the mornings. Portions and packaging are the same as off-airport stores, so you can easily carry food back toward the A or B security checkpoints or down to hotel check-in.
Hours at the atrium locations shift with traffic, but McDonald’s in Terminal A generally opens early morning for the first wave of flights and runs into late evening, covering most departures out of gates in A and B. It’s usually quicker than the sit-down spots along the perimeter of the atrium, especially for a coffee and McGriddle before TSA. Lines spike around 6–8 a.m. and again at lunchtime, but turnover is fast by airport standards.
The menu is standard issue, so play the hits: Big Mac or a 10-piece McNuggets if you want something predictable before a 3–4 hour flight, or a simple cheeseburger and fries as a tide-you-over before heading to the Terminal A or B security lines. Drinks come in the usual tiered sizes, and a large soft drink is still under $4, which beats most other atrium options.
Practical tip: if you’re connecting airside through Terminal C, skip this landside stop and wait until after security; if you’re checking bags in A or B, grab your McDonald’s order right after the train and eat while you organize boarding passes and luggage tags.
