Relay

Near the T concourse checkpoints, this is your grab-and-go

Relay at MCI sits airside in Terminal T and functions as the standard quick-stop news and convenience shop. You’ll see magazines, snacks, headphones, charging cables, and basic travel meds right off the main concourse walkway, usually near other national chains. It’s the place you hit when you realize on the way to gate T something that you forgot sunscreen or a Lightning cable.

Hours at Relay in T generally track the flight banks, opening early for the 5–6 a.m. departures and staying open to cover the last evening flights around 9–10 p.m. Prices are airport-high: expect $3–4 for bottled drinks, $2–3 for candy or chips, and a bit more for grab-and-go sandwiches. You’ll also find bottled water in multi-buy deals that soften the hit a little if you’re stocking up for a longer leg.

Inventory at Relay leans hard into travel basics rather than souvenirs, so you’ll see phone chargers, earbuds, power banks, neck pillows, and TSA-approved toiletries hanging right by the front racks. There’s usually a small wall of paperbacks and a few local-interest titles about Kansas City alongside the national magazines. For food, it’s mostly packaged snacks and refrigerated sandwiches or yogurt cups, not fresh hot items.

Watch out for the usual airport trap: single-use electronics like $30 headphones that feel like $8 gear. If you just need a cable or small adapter before a flight from gate T, Relay gets the job done, but check packaging twice to match your phone or laptop port. Quick tip: grab water and snacks here before you walk down to the end gates, where options thin out and prices can edge even higher.
