Just past security in Terminal T, this is MCI’s Duty Free
The Duty Free Store sits airside in Terminal T, after the main security checkpoint for all gates. It focuses on the usual travel staples: liquor, tobacco, perfume, and some confectionery. Selection skews to big international brands rather than niche bottles, so think major Scotch labels, global vodka names, and standard fragrance houses.
Pricing on spirits and tobacco follows the standard duty-free playbook: better than most U.S. street prices on larger bottles, especially when you’re buying 1L or 1.75L formats. Perfume and cosmetics tend to track department store pricing, with occasional multi-item promos. Stock turns over slowly at MCI compared with huge hubs, so don’t expect every new release or limited edition.
The shop mainly serves international departures from Kansas City, so keep an eye on your boarding time. Figure 5–10 minutes to walk from the Duty Free Store to most Terminal T gates, depending on how far down the pier your flight boards. Staff usually remind you about liquid rules for any connecting flights back into the U.S. or Europe.
If you want to buy liquor before a long-haul out of MCI, this is essentially your only airside option in Terminal T. Check your airline’s baggage rules and customs limits for your destination before stacking bottles. One practical move: snap a quick photo of receipts and bottle labels in case customs at arrival asks for exact values.
