Short-stay

90 seconds from T1’s doors, this is the closest car park

T1 Short Stay sits directly opposite Manchester Airport’s Terminal 1, with a walking time of about 1–2 minutes from car to check-in. It’s a multi-storey, on-airport car park, so you stay under cover from the moment you pull a ticket at the barrier to the lift lobby by departures.

This is short-stay parking, priced by the hour and day, and it’s usually the most expensive option at MAN for anything over 24 hours. It’s aimed at trips of 1–3 days, drop-offs where you want to walk in with family, or business hops where time is worth more than the extra £10–£20 versus off-site.

The car park is clearly signed for T1 on the airport road system, just past the Terminal 1 forecourt and distinct from T2 and T3 parking. Automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) is in use at the entry barriers, so pre-bookings match your registration and the gate lifts without pressing a button when it works correctly.

Height restriction here is typical multi-storey territory, so anything much over 2.0 metres may struggle; large vans and tall 4x4s are better off at a surface car park. Standard bays are tight by UK standards, and spaces closer to the terminal-side lifts go first in the early morning bank around 05:00–07:00.

Security is higher than a random off-airport lot: the T1 Short Stay structure has CCTV on every level and controlled barrier entry and exit, with patrols running periodically through the day and night. Lighting across the decks stays on 24/7, which helps when you land back into MAN on a late 22:30 arrival and still have to find your car.

Best move is to pre-book online at least 7 days out; drive-up rates in peak summer and school holidays can sting badly. Screenshot or print your booking confirmation with the exact car park name so you don’t accidentally follow signs into a T2 or T3 product and get charged the wrong tariff.
