T1’s Idly.com does exactly what the name promises

Right inside Terminal T1 at Chennai International, Idly.com sticks to the basics: hot idlis, vadas, and quick filter coffee before you head to security for domestic flights. Expect a fast-food counter format rather than sit-down service, with trays moving quickly during the morning bank of departures between about 5:00 and 9:00. If you have a 20–30 minute window before boarding, you can usually order, eat, and still make it to gates on time.

Menu boards show straightforward South Indian staples: idli plates, sambar vada, pongal, dosas, and coffee or tea. Pricing sits in the budget bracket compared with many airport spots; a basic idli sambar combo typically lands under ₹150, and coffee under ₹60, which is rare airside in India. Portions run small-to-medium, so plan on one and a half mains if you’re actually hungry before a 2–3 hour flight.

Food turnover in T1 is highest in the early morning and late evening, roughly 7:00–10:00 and 19:00–22:00, when Indigo and other domestic carriers have heavy waves. During those times, sambar and chutneys get replenished often, so flavors stay fresher and idlis don’t sit around. Midday, when departures thin out, ask for freshly heated idlis; staff usually oblige if the counter isn’t slammed.

Coffee is the safest bet here: the standard filter coffee shot gives you a caffeine hit stronger than most chain cafés in T1, at roughly half the price. If you’re catching a short hop under 90 minutes, a quick coffee and a plate of two idlis is enough to tide you over instead of grabbing a full meal elsewhere in the terminal.

One practical move: check your gate first on the T1 departures screens, then backtrack to Idly.com only if you have at least 15 minutes before boarding starts; some T1 domestic gates involve a 7–10 minute walk from the central food area.
