Chennai Kulfi

T1

Near T1 check-in counters, Chennai Kulfi is all about frozen sweets

Right in Terminal T1, Chennai Kulfi focuses almost entirely on, predictably, kulfi. You’ll see the freezer counter first, with metal trays and pre-moulded sticks in classic Indian flavours. It’s a quick stop on the way to domestic security rather than a sit-down spot, so think 5-minute sugar fix, not a full meal.

Flavour-wise, expect standards like malai, pista, badam and kesar, plus occasional fruit options such as mango or strawberry, all in the ₹80–₹150 range depending on size and add-ons. Portions run small-to-medium, which works if you’re killing time before boarding and don’t want to commit to a heavy dessert. Most orders go out on sticks, but some outlets also offer slices cut from traditional moulds.

Service is counter-style with cash and digital payments (UPI usually accepted), which keeps the line moving even when multiple flights from IndiGo or Air India are checking in nearby in T1. There are usually no dedicated tables; expect to stand nearby, head towards generic terminal seating, or just eat on the walk to security. Turnaround from order to first bite is usually under two minutes since everything is pre-frozen.

Quality skews sweeter than what you’ll find at old-school city kulfi shops, but the dairy base is still richer than basic ice cream cups sold at many airport kiosks. If you’re sensitive to sugar before a long flight, stick to malai or pista; the fruit flavours can taste closer to dessert candy. Portions are solid value compared with other T1 snacks that easily cross ₹200 for something forgettable.

Tip: If you’re flying out of T1 in the afternoon heat, grab a kulfi here before you clear security; once you pass into the domestic gate area, dessert options thin out and prices tick up another ₹30–₹50 per item.
