Terminal 4 Parking serves the newer domestic terminal at MAA, used heavily by IndiGo and other domestic carriers, but on the ground it feels like one huge shared car park for T1 and T4. There’s no clear split once you enter; cones and barricades move around, so treat it as one domestic zone rather than a neatly signed T4-only area. Pricing is short‑term style and pay‑on‑exit, with daily use common, but online reviews rarely quote exact rupee slabs, only that it adds up quickly on multi‑day trips.

The rows closest to the T4 entrance fill fast, especially after about 6 pm, and late arrivals get pushed to outer sections with a noticeably longer walk to check‑in. One reviewer mentioned dragging bags for roughly 8–10 minutes from a far bay to the terminal doors. If you’re dropping elderly relatives, factor in that there are very few shaded benches near the pedestrian exit toward T4, so waiting outside the car can be uncomfortable in Chennai’s heat.

Evening domestic peak, roughly 18:00–22:00, draws the worst comments. Drivers talk about taking 15–20 minutes just to crawl from a parked slot to the main exit, with honking and tight merges at the choke points. Another recurring gripe: pedestrian walkways are barely marked, so you end up rolling suitcases through mixed traffic, dodging cabs and vans right after you leave your row.

Regulars often skip parking entirely for night departures and use app cabs so they don’t lose 30 minutes between finding a bay and escaping the lot. Those who do park drop a pin in Google Maps the moment they lock the car, because row numbers are inconsistent and the domestic area is big enough that people genuinely forget where they left it. Tip: for an evening IndiGo flight from T4, aim to reach the airport forecourt at least 30–40 minutes earlier than you normally would, just to absorb parking and exit delays.
