Gate-side books in T1

Five minutes’ walk from most Lisbon T1 Schengen gates, the airport Fnac works as a last‑minute book stop before boarding. It sits airside in Terminal 1, so you need to be through security already. Think standard mall Fnac, just compressed: books, magazines, some tech, and travel accessories packed into one compact corner.

Print selection leans hard into Portuguese titles, with a modest English section that usually covers current bestsellers and a few classics. Expect trade paperbacks in the €12–€18 range and pocket paperbacks around €9–€12. You’ll also see a rotating rack of travel guides for Portugal and Europe if you still like paper over apps.

Beyond books, this T1 Fnac stocks basic electronics: charging cables, headphones, and power banks, mostly in the €15–€40 bracket. That can save a long flight if your cable died somewhere between Bairro Alto and the airport. Stationery, notebooks, and a small kids’ book corner round things out for anyone trying to keep children occupied on a 3‑hour sector.

Staff usually speak Portuguese, English, and at least some Spanish, and checkout moves quickly unless a flight just dumped a full A320 into the area. Figure 5–10 minutes inside if you already know what you want, 15 if you’re browsing. Tip: if your gate is still “to be announced,” shop here first, then walk to the screens near the middle of T1 to check where to head next.
