Taxi 35–70 min

Checked bags and zero app juggling? Taxi from LIM T1 fits.

From Terminal 1 at Jorge Chávez International, taxis line up on the vehicle-only ramps off Av. Morales Duárez, so you roll your suitcase straight from baggage claim to the curb instead of hunting for an outside street pickup. This setup matters if you’ve got two checked bags and just want a direct door-to-door ride without opening Uber, Cabify, or InDrive at midnight.

Typical taxi time to Lima’s Historic Center runs around 35–60 minutes, and Miraflores usually comes in closer to 45–70 minutes, but the spread is all about traffic on Av. Elmer Faucett and the Costa Verde. Treat any promise of “30 minutes to Miraflores” as fantasy during weekday rush hour; it can double once you hit congestion near San Miguel or Magdalena.

Inside T1 arrivals, you’ll see airport-authorized taxi desks right after customs, generally quoting fixed fares in soles or US dollars based on zones like Centro, Miraflores, and San Isidro. You pay at the counter, get a printed ticket, then meet the driver at the designated curb on the Av. Morales Duárez ramp, which means no haggling out on the street with bags in hand.

Prices vary by company and distance, but for rough planning: rides to Miraflores from T1 commonly fall in the S/60–S/80 range, with Centro often slightly cheaper by about S/10–S/20. If you arrive after 22:00, night surcharges and slower traffic patterns kick in, so the time might drop a bit while the fare nudges up.

Regulars use taxis mainly for the last 8–12 km between the airport and hotel because the new terminal access roads are not friendly for walking with luggage to an off-airport pickup. The ramps on Av. Morales Duárez push you into vehicle lanes, so that “I’ll just walk 5–10 minutes to a cheaper point” plan doesn’t work well here.

Watch out for: Lima traffic can turn a 35‑minute off-peak estimate into a 70‑minute crawl if you land between 07:00–09:30 or 17:30–20:00, especially heading to Miraflores via the Costa Verde. Build the buffer: add at least 30 extra minutes to whatever time a driver or booking desk quotes during those windows.

One practical tip: before you leave baggage claim in T1, decide your destination neighborhood and ask the taxi counter for the fixed zone fare in writing so you’re clear on the cost to Miraflores, Centro, or San Isidro before you reach the ramp on Av. Morales Duárez.
