Shuttle 30-60 min

30–60 minutes from LIH to most Kauai resorts

SpeediShuttle runs shared shuttles from Lihue Airport with typical drive times of 30–60 minutes to major spots like Poipu, Kapaa, and Princeville, depending on traffic and stops. Rides are on demand, not on a fixed timetable, so you’re not waiting for a 30-minute departure window to fill up.

The service runs daily during normal flight banks, covering all LIH arrivals from early morning into late evening. Because SpeediShuttle is an on-demand shuttle, they group passengers by rough direction, so a Lihue-to-Poipu run that can take 25 minutes in a taxi may stretch closer to 45–60 minutes if they stop at multiple hotels along Poipu Road.

Pickup is curbside at Lihue Airport outside the baggage claim area, so you don’t pass through any additional checkpoints once you collect bags from carousel 1 or 2. Look for SpeediShuttle staff or signage near the shuttle loading zones, usually lined up with other ground transport providers on the arrivals curb.

Pricing is per person, not per vehicle, which can work out cheaper than a taxi if you’re solo or a group of two, but gets closer to taxi or rideshare pricing once you hit three or four passengers. The key point: you trade a lower per-person fare for the extra time of shared stops and a 30–60 minute airport-to-hotel window.

Because the shuttles run on demand, reservations made at least 24 hours before landing usually mean less curbside waiting, especially around the mid-day arrival rush when multiple mainland flights land between roughly 11:00 and 15:00. Same-day walk-ups can still ride, but you may stand on the curb for 15–30 minutes while they group riders and dispatch a van.

Shuttles are standard vans with luggage space in the rear, so each person with one checked suitcase plus a carry-on fits fine. If you’re hauling surfboards or golf bags for Poipu Bay or Princeville Makai, confirm equipment space when booking, since a packed van with six to eight riders can run out of room fast.

Tip: If your flight lands late (after 21:00) or you’re on the last west coast arrival bank, lock in a SpeediShuttle reservation before you fly so you’re not scrambling on the LIH curb when options thin out.
