Gate-side barstools and burgers at LIH from 10 a.m.
Mea Inu Bar and Grill sits airside at Lihue Airport, past security near the main gate cluster, and runs daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. That window covers the bulk of LIH departures, so you can grab a real sit-down meal on morning mainland runs and late inter-island hops alike.
This is standard airport bar-and-grill fare: think burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, and basic salads, plus draft and canned beer, simple cocktails, and soft drinks. Prices sit in the usual Hawaii-airport range, with mains often landing in the low-to-mid $20s and beers around the high single digits. It’s table service, so factor in a tip and a slightly slower pace than a grab-and-go counter.
Service speed depends heavily on flight banks; when a couple of California flights push at the same time, food can take 20–30 minutes. During mid-afternoon lulls, you may see plates in 10–15 minutes and have space to park a rollaboard by the table. If your departure is inside 45 minutes and you still need to board from one of the farther gates, stick to drinks or something you can finish quickly.
LIH isn’t packed with food options after 8:00 p.m., so Mea Inu often ends up as one of the few spots still cooking. If you land hungry on a late arrival and are turning right back around on another ticket, remember it’s airside: you’ll need a same-day boarding pass to reach it. Tip: during peak heat, grab a cold beer or soda here and use the shaded seating to charge your phone before heading to your gate.
