South Concourse sit-down spot with real plates, not grab-and-go

In Terminal 1’s South Concourse at Long Beach, Boathouse on the Bay runs 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. as the airport offshoot of the waterfront restaurant a few miles away. It’s one of the few full-service dining rooms past security here, so it feels more like a neighborhood spot than a generic airport bar.

Menus lean coastal-American: expect things like fish dishes, burgers, salads, and breakfast plates early in the day, rather than just wings and fries. Because this is a scaled-down version of the marina original, you won’t see the full waterfront menu, but pricing sits in that typical airport range where a main course can easily hit the mid-teens or higher. Figure 30–45 minutes for a sit-down meal if your gate is nearby.

The restaurant sits in Terminal 1 after security, so you can walk straight from seat to gate without another checkpoint. Hours run 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., which covers the first departures and most evening flights; if your flight is after 8 p.m., plan on eating elsewhere in Long Beach or grabbing something packaged earlier. Bar service starts in the morning too, but the setup is more “restaurant with a bar” than pure sports bar.

Lines build right around the 7–9 a.m. and 5–7 p.m. banks when multiple gates in the South Concourse are boarding, and tables can fill quickly since this is one of the only sit-down options in Terminal 1. If you want an actual meal instead of a sandwich box, walk over here as soon as your boarding pass shows a gate in the South Concourse and order before the rush hits.
