10–20 minutes from Economy Lot E to any LAX terminal
LAX Shuttle Route E runs between Economy Lot E and terminals 1–8 and B, with rides usually taking 10–20 minutes depending on traffic and how many stops it makes before yours. The shuttle itself is free; you only pay for parking in Lot E, which many locals use to dodge the worst of the central terminal traffic and construction zones.
Buses run roughly every 10–15 minutes, but reviews on Reddit and Yelp mention waits of 20 minutes or more during Sunday nights and holiday peaks. The lot operates 24/7, yet several late-night travelers report thinner service after midnight, so don’t cut it close for a 12:30 a.m. departure from terminals 4–8 or B.
Stops are signed as “Economy Parking / Route E” at each curb, and the shuttle does the full airport loop past terminals 1 through 8 plus the Tom Bradley International Terminal (B). Riders say the ride feels longest if you board at terminal 1 and your car is in the far corner of Lot E, so plan on the full 20-minute side of the range when you’re outbound.
Service is $0 per person for the shuttle, which matters if you’re dropping off a family of four and don’t want to pay terminal parking rates. Some drivers complain that Lot E fills up faster than expected on Friday evenings and holiday mornings, adding another 10–15 minutes of circling before they even reach the shuttle stop.
How to use LAX Shuttle Route E
- 1. Park or get dropped at Economy Lot E: Follow airport signs for “Economy Parking E” off W 96th Street, and pick a row near a marked shuttle stop number so you can find your car again after terminal B or 7 arrivals.
- 2. Walk to the Route E stop: Look for the blue “Shuttle E / Economy Parking” signs and covered shelters; most reviews mention a 2–5 minute walk from the farthest rows to the nearest stop.
- 3. Board the next shuttle: Buses are free and board from the front and middle doors; regulars say they add at least 30 extra minutes on top of their normal airport arrival time to absorb any 20+ minute gaps.
- 4. Ride the loop to your terminal: Announcements call out terminals 1 through 8 and B in order; if terminal 3 is jammed, some riders hop off at terminal 2 and walk the 5–7 minutes airside instead.
- 5. On return, follow “Economy Parking / E” signs: At pickup, if the line at terminal 4 is stacked 30–40 people deep, locals often walk toward terminal 5 or 6 in the same direction of travel to catch a less packed bus.
Watch out for
Reviews flag bunching as a real issue: two shuttles back-to-back, then nothing for 15–20 minutes, especially on Sunday nights. Holiday traffic in the LAX loop can also trap Route E buses behind rideshares and hotel shuttles, stretching the ride toward 25 minutes between terminal 1 and Lot E.
Build the buffer. If you normally hit LAX 90 minutes before a domestic flight in terminal 5, treat Lot E plus Shuttle E as a 2-hour play instead.
