Rock & Brews

Gate-adjacent brews and burgers in LAX Terminal 1

Rock & Brews sits airside in Terminal 1, near the middle of the concourse, so Southwest flyers see it on most walks to gates 10–18. It runs typical airport hours, roughly early morning through late evening, and functions as the main full-service sit-down option in this terminal. Expect TV screens tuned to sports, loud rock playlists, and a bar that stays busy whenever there’s a bank of Southwest departures.

Menu is classic bar food: burgers, wings, pizzas, and salads, with mains usually landing in the $16–$25 range. Draft beer is the hook, with several taps pouring domestic and a few rotating craft choices, often including at least one California IPA. Cocktails tend to hover around $14–$18. Portions run large for an airport, so you can split a pizza or a basket of wings and fries if you’re trying to keep the bill under control.

Service pace swings with the schedule: during 7–10 a.m. and 4–8 p.m. Southwest banks, expect 20–30 minutes from order to food if the dining room is full. Bar seats usually move a bit faster, and grabbing a stool near the taps is the best play for solo travelers watching the boarding clock on a flight out of gates 12 or 13. Most tables have line of sight to departure boards within about 50 feet.

There’s a printed kids’ menu with smaller burgers and chicken tenders under $12, which can be cheaper than grabbing separate meals at two different spots. Vegetarian options exist, mainly in the form of cheese pizzas, salads, and occasionally an Impossible-style burger patty, so check the current menu before committing. Beer flights sometimes appear as a special, giving you four smaller pours instead of one 20-ounce glass.

Practical tip: if your Southwest layover is under 50 minutes, hit the bar for a quick draft and fries; sit-down tables at Rock & Brews work better for a gap of at least an hour between flights in Terminal 1.
