Three-minute covered walk beats the LAS curb chaos

Short Term Parking at Harry Reid (Terminals 1 and 3) sits in the attached garages, about a 3-minute covered walk from the terminal doors. At T1 it’s on level 2M; at T3 it’s level 1, both tied straight into the pedestrian bridges. This is the setup locals use for quick drop-offs, pickups, or same-day turns when they’d rather pay a bit than deal with the pickup curb traffic jam.

The rate runs $36 per day, which locals compare to hotel valet pricing, so it only really pencils out for under-24-hour parking or a same-day out-and-back. Hourly pricing is aimed at quick stops, not week-long trips. If you’re leaving the car longer than a day or two, the math flips hard in favor of Long Term or Economy, especially during multi-night stays for events or tournaments.

Access is simple: follow signs for Short Term at Terminal 1 or 3, then aim for the levels with the pedestrian bridges so you can walk straight toward check-in and security. Most people clear car-to-counter in under 5 minutes if they’re not dragging giant checked bags. The garages have visible airport security patrols, cameras, and even a free "lost car search" service if you forget where you parked.

Drawbacks are mostly about crowding. On big convention or holiday weekends, T1 Short Term is often the first garage to fill; during CES, locals report the entrance getting closed and traffic pushed to Long Term or Economy. Even when you get a space, exit lanes can back up badly while visitors fight with tickets and credit cards, so build in an extra 10–15 minutes at peak times.

Regulars work around this. Many Vegas locals drop at departures, then swing back, park Short Term, and walk over for pickups to dodge the main pickup curb mess. Same-day flyers aim for the bridge-aligned levels so they can park, lock, and be on the bridge in under 2 minutes. Tip: on big event days, check Short Term first, but have a backup plan to pivot straight to Long Term if the entrance is coned off.
