CityBus Route 23

Public bus

Route 23 is on the CityBus map, not in the terminal

CityBus Route 23 appears in Kuwait City bus maps as a public bus line, but there is no reliable, recent proof that it stops at Kuwait International Airport’s Terminal 1, 4, or 5 doors. Most route lists just show a generic “airport” reference without stop codes, times, or stand numbers, so treat any online mention of Route 23 at KWI as unconfirmed.

Timetables that include CityBus Route 23 usually show daytime operations only, often starting around 06:00 and finishing before 23:00, and that already makes it a poor fit for late-night or early-morning flights out of T1, T4, or T5. With no clear airport stop name printed on shelters or on the bus itself, you risk being dropped on a highway shoulder or a distant junction rather than next to the departures curb.

How to (theoretically) use CityBus Route 23 from KWI

  • 1. Confirm the line exists that day. Before you leave Terminal 1, 4, or 5, check a same-day CityBus timetable or ask at an information desk if Route 23 is currently operating; some older lists date back more than 5 years and may be out of service.
  • 2. Find any CityBus stop near the airport perimeter. Expect to walk 500–1,500 meters from arrivals toward the main road if Route 23 does not enter the terminal loop; look for blue or white bus stop poles with route numbers printed in Arabic and English.
  • 3. Ask the driver about your destination. When a bus marked “23” arrives, confirm in simple English or Arabic that it goes to your target area in Kuwait City, and have the neighborhood name written down, like Farwaniya or Hawally, as not all drivers match the website map exactly.
  • 4. Pay in cash on board. Fares on CityBus lines around Kuwait City often sit in the 0.25–0.40 KWD range, so carry at least 1 KWD in small notes or coins; card or contactless payment usually is not an option on older buses.
  • 5. Watch your stop with offline maps. Download an offline Kuwait map before landing at KWI and follow your progress, since Route 23 stop announcements may be inconsistent and many stops have no electronic display.

Practical call: treat Route 23 as a backup, not a plan

Because there are no solid, current reports of CityBus Route 23 pulling into the forecourt of Terminal 1, 4, or 5, most flyers default to taxis, app cars, or confirmed airport buses like Route 13A; use Route 23 only if you already know the local bus network, and always keep at least 5–7 KWD on hand for a fallback taxi if the bus never shows.
