10:00–20:00 listed hours, but no true Centurion Lounge in T1
American Express shows “Amex Centurion Lounge” at Kuwait International Airport Terminal 1, but the fine print matters: there is no Amex-operated Centurion-branded space here, only access to partner lounges for Platinum and Centurion cardholders.
In Terminal 1, Amex routes cardholders to the Kuwait Airways Dasman Lounge and the Dasman Premier Lounge, both shown on the Amex lounge locator instead of any proprietary Centurion facility, despite the 10:00–20:00 timing listed next to the “Centurion Lounge” entry.
Terminal 4 cardholders see the Al Mubarakiya Lounge listed on the same Amex page, again as a partner option, so departures on Jazeera or other T4 users end up there rather than walking over to Terminal 1 looking for Centurion branding that doesn’t exist.
Access rules are strict: only Amex Centurion and Platinum cardholders and eligible guests are admitted to these partner spaces, matching typical global Amex lounge policy, but staff at KWI often know them as contract lounge entries, not as “the Centurion Lounge.”
For Terminal 1 departures, frequent Amex flyers usually open the Amex lounge locator app at the check-in desk and then choose between Dasman and Dasman Premier by proximity to their airline’s gates rather than by any expectation of New York, Hong Kong, or London-style Centurion interiors.
Because Amex publishes three named lounges at KWI (Dasman, Dasman Premier, Al Mubarakiya) and not a single Centurion-branded room, expectations need a reset: think “partner contract lounge access with Amex swipe-in” instead of the usual Centurion bar program or signature shower suites.
There are no recurring complaint themes in current FlyerTalk or Reddit threads about these KWI partner lounges, and reviews tend to mention “standard contract lounge” food and seating rather than any dedicated Centurion perks like premium cocktails or made-to-order dining, so value depends heavily on how long your layover in Terminals 1 or 4 actually runs.
Practical tip: before you clear security in Terminal 1, 4, or 5, open the Amex lounge locator for KWI and note exactly which partner lounge name matches your terminal, so you walk straight there instead of burning 15–20 minutes hunting for Centurion signage that isn’t on any door.
