Blue wheelchair symbols sit right next to KOA’s main terminal
Accessible Parking at Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keāhole sits directly next to the Main Terminal, so you’re on the sidewalk in about 1–2 minutes. Stalls are marked with standard blue signage and access aisles, and they connect to curbside via short, level routes. If walking distance is a concern at KOA, this is the closest option you’re going to get to the check-in counters and security entrance.
This is standard airport accessible parking in the main terminal lot, not a separate garage or remote field. You park in signed ADA spaces near the front rows, then move straight to the terminal curb, which sits only a short roll away. KOA is an open-air airport, so from these spots you’re usually under the covered terminal walkways within a couple of minutes. That proximity matters in mid-day heat on the Kona side.
Payment runs through the same system as the rest of the KOA terminal parking, with posted daily maximums at the entrance and near the pay stations. Expect pricing in line with on-airport terminal parking in Hawaiʻi, generally higher than off-airport private lots but with a tradeoff of being steps from the Main Terminal doors. Stays can be short-term for drop-offs or longer trips; just match your ticket to your travel dates before you pull out.
Marked accessible spaces sit closest to the terminal-side crosswalks, typically within one or two rows of the curb. Most spots pair with striped access aisles for side-loading ramps, but always check that the aisle is clear before committing to a space. If you need extra room, aim for end-of-row stalls, which at KOA often give a bit more maneuvering space around minivans and SUVs.
One practical tip: if someone in your party has limited mobility, drop them and bags at the KOA Main Terminal curb first, then loop back and park in Accessible Parking next to the terminal so you’re only moving the driver from car to gate.
