McDonald's

Big Mac and fries before security at KHH

McDonald's sits landside at Kaohsiung International Airport, between the D and I terminal check-in areas, so you eat here before clearing security. That matters if your airline opens check-in late or you’re meeting someone arriving by MRT and want a predictable spot to sit.

Opening hours at this McDonald’s track typical Taiwan airport times, usually from early morning around 07:00 through the last wave of evening flights. If you have a 06:30 departure out of Terminal D, don’t assume it’s serving hot food yet; have a backup plan from a convenience store inside security.

Pricing is close to city outlets: a basic burger set runs roughly NT$150–190, with breakfast combos a bit cheaper. Compared with some airside cafes selling NT$120 lattes, this is one of the better value options if you’re feeding two or three people before a regional flight to Tokyo or Seoul.

Menu is standard Taiwan McDonald’s: Big Mac and McChicken, Filet-O-Fish, fries, McNuggets, and seasonal specials that rotate every few months. Breakfast usually includes sausage muffins and hash browns until around 10:30. If you want a quick caffeine fix, the basic coffee costs far less than the chains inside the I terminal security zone.

Seating is limited at peak times like the 18:00–20:00 departure bank, and families headed for flights to Japan and Hong Kong tend to camp at tables. Expect noise and some luggage pile-up near the doors; if you’re on a tight boarding time for gate D3 or D4, eat first and then move closer to security.

Tip: grab your McDonald’s to go and clear security with it; security staff at KHH usually allow sealed takeout bags through, and you can finish your fries near your D or I gate instead of guarding your carry-ons in the landside seating area.
