Rental Car Parking

Dedicated area

Dedicated rental car parking sits just outside Terminal 1 at KEF

Rental Car Parking at Keflavik International Airport is a dedicated area for hire cars directly serving Terminal 1, so you walk from car to check-in instead of waiting for a shuttle. The parking zone sits in the main landside forecourt, and you reach the terminal doors in just a few minutes on foot with luggage.

This area is only for rental vehicles, not private cars, which keeps traffic more predictable when you drop off or collect a car. Each rental company at KEF has signed spaces within the shared parking section, so you return the vehicle to the brand-marked row instead of hunting around general parking lots.

Because Rental Car Parking is landside, you handle contracts and keys before security rather than at the gates in Terminal 1. That setup keeps the walk short from the parking stalls to the rental desks, which are typically in or near the main arrivals hall used for both pick-up and drop-off at Keflavik.

There is no separate long-term public parking inside this rental-only area, so you do not leave your own car here during a trip. Spaces turn over based on rental agreements, and staff from each company monitor their section of the lot to keep stalls free for incoming returns and new pick-ups.

Tip: Build at least a 15–20 minute buffer into your return time so you can refill fuel, park in the correct signed row, walk to Terminal 1, and complete the handover before check-in closes.
