P2 Car Park

Short-stay

Two minutes’ walk from Terminal 1, P2 is the short-stay lot

P2 Car Park sits directly in front of Keflavik Airport’s Terminal 1, marked as the short-stay option for drop-offs, pick-ups, and quick trips. You park outside, ground level, no shuttle, and you can reach the main departures entrance on foot in about 2–3 minutes. It’s signed as “P2” on airport approach roads, so you can follow the blue parking symbols from Route 41.

This is a short-stay car park, intended for hours rather than days, and priced accordingly by the airport. P2 uses the same automated barrier system as other KEF lots: you take a ticket at entry or use plate recognition where available, then pay at a machine before exiting. Because pricing is geared to short stops, longer trips of 24 hours or more usually make more sense in one of the long-stay options like P3 or P4.

P2 sits on the terminal side of the airport access road, closer than P1 and much closer than the remote lots across from the terminal. That location makes it useful for meeting arriving passengers into Terminal 1, especially late at night or in winter weather. If you’re dropping someone for an early-morning flight in the 05:00–07:00 bank, parking in P2 keeps the walk short in the dark and wind.

There’s no covered walkway from P2 into Terminal 1, and the lot is fully uncovered, so cars and people are exposed to Iceland’s wind and rain. In snow or heavy rain, it’s smart to add 5 extra minutes for walking and ticket payment at the pay stations. Final tip: snap a photo of your row and the “P2” sign before you head to departures, especially on busy days when the front sections fill first.
