2-minute walk from Terminal 1, P1 is KEF’s short-stay lot
P1 Car Park sits directly in front of Keflavik International Airport’s Terminal 1, marked as the official short-stay option. You park on-site, then walk roughly 2 minutes to the main departures entrance, so it works for quick drop-offs, pickups, and same-day trips.
This is a short-stay car park, not long-term, so think in hours rather than days. P1 is set up for brief visits to KEF Terminal 1: meet-and-greet runs, check-in help, or walking someone to security. If you’re leaving the car for several days, look for one of the long-stay lots instead of P1.
P1 serves only Terminal 1 at Keflavik, since KEF runs all commercial flights out of this single terminal. That means no shuttle transfers or extra queues: you park, lock up, and walk straight toward the Terminal 1 doors. For connections within KEF, you still park once at P1 and use the same terminal.
Payment rules for P1 follow KEF’s short-stay structure, billed by time parked. Short-stay pricing usually runs higher per hour than outlying long-stay areas, but you’re trading that for the 2-minute walk. Check current rates on Keflavik Airport’s official site before you drive in, especially if you expect delays.
P1 is post-road but pre-terminal, meaning there’s no security check between the car park and Terminal 1 doors. You still go through normal security once inside the building. Build at least a 15–20 minute buffer on top of your airline’s check-in cut-off so parking, walking, and bag drop don’t turn into a sprint.
Tip: If you’re only collecting someone from Terminal 1 and their flight is due in the late evening, track the exact arrival time first, then enter P1 as close as you can to touchdown to avoid paying for extra short-stay minutes.
