Gate-side Japanese basics in T5
Near the JetBlue gates in Terminal 5, Muji to Go is the airport outpost of the Japanese brand that keeps things very stripped down: neutral colors, simple packaging, no logos screaming at you. This is post-security in T5, so you don’t have to budget extra time for a detour back through screening.
Expect travel-size versions of Muji’s usual hits: small stationery, clear pouches, pens, packing cubes, and simple clothing basics that work on a long-haul out of T5. Prices land in typical airport territory, a few dollars higher than Manhattan Muji stores, but still below most design-y travel shops in JFK.
The focus skews hard toward utility. You’ll see hard-case and soft carry-ons, neck pillows, compact umbrellas, and little bottles and jars that satisfy TSA’s 3.4 oz rule at JFK without guesswork. If you forgot a notebook or need a non-branded tote before boarding, this is one of the few spots in Terminal 5 that isn’t plastered with sports logos or fashion labels.
Selection is tighter than a full city store, so don’t come looking for furniture or larger storage pieces; Muji to Go at JFK is built around what fits in a cabin bag, not a checked 23 kg suitcase. Quick tip: hit this before grabbing food in T5, so you’re not juggling hot takeout while comparing bag sizes and bottles on the shelves.
