Gate-side books and snacks in Terminal 1
Hudson in JFK Terminal 1 sits airside after security, right in the main departures shopping strip before the long walk to the 1–10 gate pier. It runs from early morning through last departures, so you can grab something at 5 a.m. for the first Europe-bound check-ins or closer to midnight for late transatlantic flights.
Expect standard Hudson stock: magazines, paperbacks, neck pillows, charging cables, and basic toiletries, all priced at typical airport markups, roughly USD 3–5 above street prices for snacks and small items. Drinks range from bottled water around USD 4 to energy drinks and sodas closer to USD 5–6, which still undercuts some sit-down spots in Terminal 1.
Food options lean packaged: chips, candy, grab-and-go cookies, and protein bars in the USD 2–7 range, plus a small fridge with bottled juices and cold coffee. If you want a real meal before a Lufthansa, Air France, or ITA flight out of T1, this is backup, not a primary plan; buy something hot elsewhere in the terminal, then come here for extras.
Lines spike in 10–15 minute bursts right after big check-in waves for evening European departures, especially between 18:00 and 21:00. If you just need water and a cable before boarding from gates 1–10, stop here first before you walk all the way down the pier, since options thin out near some of the remote gates.
