United Club

7

Gate-side in Terminal 7, this is United’s only JFK club.

The United Club in Terminal 7 sits airside for Star Alliance and United flyers, so you need a same-day boarding pass from this terminal to get in. Access follows the usual United rules: United Club membership, premium cabin on an eligible Star Alliance carrier, or one-time passes where accepted. If your flight leaves from another JFK terminal like 1, 4, 5, or 8, you can’t practically use this lounge because there’s no secure-side connection between terminals.

Hours track United’s bank of departures, typically opening several hours before the first outbound and closing after the last evening flight. That means the lounge tends to be quiet mid-day and more compressed around late-afternoon and evening transcons. If you have a late flight that pushes close to midnight, double-check the day’s hours at the door or in the app to avoid showing up after staff begin shutting things down.

Food and drinks follow a standard United Club pattern: buffet-style snacks, a few hot items at peak times, and a bar with both complimentary and paid options. Expect basic items rather than full meals, so plan to eat something more substantial in Terminal 7 if you need a real dinner before a long-haul. Cash bar prices sit in typical New York airport territory, with cocktails and better wines running into the high teens.

Seating is mostly armchairs and small tables, with power outlets scattered but not at every seat. Wi‑Fi runs off United’s lounge network, usually strong enough to handle video calls before a flight. The space can feel tight near major evening departures to hubs like Denver, Chicago, or San Francisco, so if you want a quiet corner, aim to arrive at least 60 minutes before those waves hit.

Showers and quiet work zones may be limited or absent, depending on how the lounge is configured on your date, so don’t count on a full-office setup or long post-red-eye clean-up here. Restrooms can back up right before boarding calls for multiple gates in Terminal 7, especially during peak hours between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Practical tip: if you land into JFK Terminal 7 on a Star Alliance flight and connect onward from the same terminal, budget at least 15–20 minutes from gate to lounge and back, so you still board when Group 1 or 2 is called.
