Gate-side in JFK T1, this Turkish Airlines Lounge mainly serves Star Alliance flyers
This lounge sits in Terminal 1 after security, used mostly by Turkish Airlines and other Star Alliance or partner carriers flying out of T1. If you’re on United, Air France, or Delta you’re in the wrong terminal; this space only helps if your boarding pass shows a T1 departure gate. Check your flight’s terminal before you trek over, because inter-terminal transfers at JFK can easily eat 30–40 minutes.
Opening hours here typically track long-haul bank times, with doors open ahead of TK departures and other international Star Alliance flights from T1. That usually means early afternoon into late night, but exact hours shift with schedule changes. If you land on a morning arrival into T1 and think about waiting it out, don’t count on the lounge being open before the first outbound wave. Always confirm hours on the day of travel through your airline app or airport boards.
Entry generally follows Star Alliance rules in Terminal 1: business-class passengers on a same-day Star Alliance or eligible partner flight from T1 get in, as do Star Alliance Gold members flying economy on those same departures. Priority Pass access here is inconsistent and often excluded during peak evening Europe and Middle East banks, roughly 16:00–23:00, so don’t rely on a generic lounge card as your only plan.
Food and drink run on the standard international business-lounge template, with a hot and cold buffet and self-serve soft drinks plus beer and wine, all bundled into your entry. Quality can swing depending on how close you are to the late-evening departure rush; 19:00–22:00 is when trays sit out longest and tables flip fast. If you care more about a guaranteed seat than hot food, aim for earlier in the afternoon, before the transatlantic bank builds up.
The lounge layout leans on open seating zones near the buffet with smaller clusters of armchairs toward the back, all within walking distance of T1’s international gates like 1–5 and 7–10. Power outlets exist but not at every seat, and older T1 infrastructure means you should pack a small power strip or at least a dual-port charger. Wi‑Fi performance depends heavily on how many evening departures stack up; plan your downloads before you head in.
Practical tip: If you’re connecting into Terminal 1 from another JFK terminal, budget at least 45–60 minutes for the AirTrain plus security, then aim to leave this lounge for your gate a solid 25 minutes before boarding starts.
