Lufthansa Senator Lounge

Star Alliance Gold gets you in at JFK Terminal 1

This is the Lufthansa Senator Lounge in Terminal 1, used mostly by Star Alliance elites flying out of JFK. Access is for Star Alliance Gold passengers on a same-day Star Alliance flight from T1, plus business and first class on eligible tickets. If you’re connecting in from another JFK terminal, factor in the AirTrain ride and a second security check in T1.

The lounge sits airside in Terminal 1, after security and above the main departures level. Give yourself at least 10–15 minutes to walk from most T1 gates to the lounge, then another 10 minutes to get back out to boarding. It mainly serves Lufthansa departures to Frankfurt and Munich in the evening bank, along with other Star Alliance carriers using T1.

Hours typically track the long‑haul departure waves, so expect it open from late morning into the late evening during the Europe departures around 16:00–23:00. Early morning options in Terminal 1 can be thin, so check same‑day hours through your airline app before banking on a pre‑8:00 visit. If your flight leaves outside the main Europe peaks, confirm the lounge shows on your boarding pass as open.

Food and drink quality at this lounge tends to hover around standard European business lounge levels rather than restaurant territory. You’ll usually see hot items plus cold snacks and basic desserts at no added charge, with self‑serve soft drinks and alcohol. Prices only come into play if you upgrade specific premium drinks or buy something in the terminal instead.

Seating runs the usual mix: armchairs, small tables, and work-friendly spots with power outlets at some seats. Wi‑Fi is free, and your Lufthansa or Star Alliance boarding pass usually gives you the login details at reception. During the evening Lufthansa and partner departures, the space can get tight, so grabbing a seat near a wall outlet early helps.

There are showers here, a plus on overnight connections into JFK or before a late transatlantic out of Terminal 1. Bring your own toiletries if you’re picky; amenities can vary and occasionally run out in the heavier evening rush. Ask at reception as soon as you arrive, since shower waitlists build quickly around the 17:00–21:00 window.

Practical tip: if you hold Star Alliance Gold and fly out of Terminal 1, clear security a solid 90 minutes before boarding so you have time to check in, grab food, maybe queue for a shower, and still walk back to your gate without a last‑minute sprint.
