24-hour access in T4’s Retail Hall makes this Capital One Lounge the safest JFK backup plan.
The lounge sits in Terminal 4’s Retail Hall, past security and a short walk from most B gates, so you’re airside already. It’s open 24 hours, which matters at JFK where many lounges close by midnight even though departures run well past 1:00 a.m.
Entry runs on Capital One card access, with guest entry following the card’s paid-or-free policy depending on your annual spend. If you’re bringing people in, sort out the guest rules in your app before you hit T4 security so you’re not arguing at the desk with a queue behind you.
Food is the headline here: multiple reviews rank it as the current best of the credit card lounges at JFK, beating the Amex and Chase rooms on quality. The Points Guy called out the strong food and drinks program, so this is one of the few places in T4 where you can actually skip buying a terminal meal and not feel shortchanged.
Drinks are complimentary, with a proper bar setup and coffee that’s several notches above what you’ll get in the general Retail Hall. If you care more about a decent flat white than a top-shelf bourbon, this lounge lands in the sweet spot where both are solid without feeling like a nightclub.
The space uses a modern, lounge-y layout with different seating zones, but Capital One closes some areas with temporary walls overnight. If you roll in at 02:00, expect a smaller footprint than mid-afternoon; you’ll still get food, drinks, Wi‑Fi, and seats, just not the full sprawl you see in daytime photos.
Wi‑Fi is free and described as “WFH quality,” so actually fast enough for a Teams call or a big download before a 07:00 departure. Power outlets are sprinkled through the seating, but as usual at JFK, grab a spot near a pillar or wall if you need guaranteed charging during peak bank times.
The lounge has seven gender-neutral bathrooms, which cuts down on lines compared with older T4 spaces. One of these includes a shower; that shower is bookable at the front desk, and regulars make a beeline to reserve it the moment they check in after an overnight arrival.
On top of that, the lounge offers private rooms for rent if you want a door and true quiet. These are limited, so same drill: ask at the desk right away, especially in the early evening rush before the Europe and long-haul waves out of T4.
Tip: Land in T4, clear security, and head straight to the Retail Hall entrance to put your name down for the shower before hunting for food or a seat.
