Footlong subs near Gate 1 beats another terminal transfer
Terminal 1 at King Abdulaziz International Airport has a Subway, useful when you want familiar food before a Saudia or flynas departure. It sits airside in T1, so you’re fine on time if your boarding pass says Terminal 1 and you’re already through security. Expect typical global Subway pricing for the region, roughly 20–35 SAR for a 6-inch depending on fillings.
Menu is the standard international line-up: Chicken Teriyaki, Tuna, Turkey, Meatball Marinara, plus veggie options, all available as 6-inch or 12-inch. Bread choices usually include Italian, wheat, and hearty Italian, with toasting on request. You’ll find the usual fountain soft drinks in 330–500 ml sizes and bottled water around 3–5 SAR, which is cheaper than many sit-down spots in T1.
Service style is the usual counter line: choose bread, pick a protein, then add salad and sauces. During evening long-haul waves, roughly 20:00–01:00, the line can reach 10–15 people, but turnover stays quick because everything is assembly-line cold prep. If you want your sandwich toasted, factor in a couple of extra minutes for the oven cycle.
Breakfast is often available up to around 10:30, with egg-based subs and coffee, which comes in small and medium sizes. For later in the day, a 12-inch split between two people works out cheaper than buying two separate 6-inch subs. Chips in individual bags and cookies by the piece give you easy plane snacks without paying in-flight menu markups.
One practical tip: T1 can run short on seating near popular chains, so if you’re within 5–10 minutes of your gate, grab your sub to go and eat at the gate area rather than hunting for a table beside the counter.
