JAL elites only: this Diamond Premier is a small step up

In Terminal T at Itami, the JAL Diamond Premier Lounge sits just beyond domestic security, next to the Sakura Lounge, and regulars say it feels only “not much less sad” than the main side. Access runs on status or a domestic First Class boarding pass, so you won’t get in on a basic Premium Economy or standard premium cabin ticket alone.

The room itself is compact for a top-tier space, with rows of armchairs and work pods laid out for short domestic hops that rarely exceed 90 minutes from ITM. Flyers on FlyerTalk point out that the real difference from the Sakura zone is the seating: slightly softer chairs, more solo seats, and more power outlets at nearly every spot, useful if you’re charging two devices before a 7:00–9:00 morning bank.

Food is bare-bones by international standards: think a few packaged snacks, maybe some small pastries at breakfast, and that’s about it even in the evening peak around 18:00. Drinks lean basic too, with soft drinks, coffee machines, tea, and usually a couple of self-serve alcohol options rather than a full bar, so you’re not building a full meal here before a 1-hour hop to Haneda.

Regulars with JMB Sapphire or higher status mostly treat this as a quiet waiting room, not a destination, and often time their security arrival to spend 20–30 minutes here at most. Several frequent flyers on FlyerTalk openly say they don’t care much if they end up in the Sakura or Diamond Premier zone at ITM, since the buffet runs at essentially the same minimal level on both sides.

The main upside sits under your seat: plentiful power outlets at almost every chair plus USB in some newer seats, so laptops and phones can go from 30% to 80% in the average boarding window. Wi‑Fi uses the standard JAL lounge network name and usually holds up fine for VPN and video calls, even when multiple Tokyo flights board in the same 20‑minute window.

Practical tip: eat in the public area before security or grab a bento airside near your gate in Terminal T, then use the Diamond Premier Lounge mainly for a quiet seat and guaranteed power in the 30–40 minutes before boarding.
