Cell Phone Lot

Waiting area

Five minutes from the Main Terminal, this lot is free

The IND Cell Phone Lot sits about a 5-minute drive from the Main Terminal, just off airport property on Charles Brenner Drive. It’s a basic waiting area, not an overnight parking option, but the rate is the key number here: $0 per day. You stay with your car, wait for a text or call, then roll up to the arrivals curb at Indianapolis International without paying a cent for parking.

This lot is open 24/7 and functions strictly as a short-term hold point, not a place to leave your car while you fly. There are no entry tickets, no time-stamped receipts, and no payment machines because there’s nothing to pay. It’s meant for pick-ups from the Main Terminal only, so plan to head to the lower-level arrivals curb once your passenger clears baggage claim.

There’s no shuttle from the Cell Phone Lot to the Main Terminal, since the distance is short enough that you’re expected to drive in once the arrival is confirmed. Figure 2–3 minutes to reach the terminal in light traffic, and closer to 7–10 minutes during a heavy bank of flights. Build that into your timing so you’re not the car blocking the lane at Door 2 while your friend is still taxiing in.

The lot is surface parking only, with standard marked spaces and room for larger vehicles, but no height-restricted structure. Lighting runs through the night, yet there are no restrooms, no food stands, and no fuel pumps on-site. If you need a bathroom or snacks, hit a gas station on Stafford Road or a stop along I-70 before you pull in.

Tip: Have your passenger text you when they’re standing at baggage claim in the Main Terminal, then leave the Cell Phone Lot immediately; you’ll usually time the curbside pick-up within about 5 minutes.
