Gate-side Duty Free in Terminal E

Right in Terminal E, Duty Free Americas sits on the main concourse used by many international departures, so you can shop after security without backtracking. It’s standard walk-in duty free: liquor, perfume, cosmetics, tobacco, and some chocolates and snacks stacked around a central checkout. Stock leans toward big brands rather than niche labels, so don’t expect anything rare, but you can tick off last-minute gifts in 10–15 minutes.

Hours track the long-haul banks in Terminal E, typically opening early morning before the 06:00–07:00 departures and running into the late-night wave around 22:00–23:00. Prices run below US street pricing on spirits and tobacco, as usual for duty free, but perfume and cosmetics often sit close to what you’d see at a department store. Check the posted allowances by destination at the counter if you’re heading to the EU or Latin America; limits differ and they do have the charts handy.

Selection skews to 1-liter bottles for liquor, cartons for cigarettes, and the classic 100 ml perfume gift sets. You’ll also see 3-packs of Toblerone and similar bulk chocolate near the front. If your carry-on is already full, remember that liquids bought here for a same-day connection stay in a sealed STEB bag; that works for most onward flights out of IAH and through hubs like LHR or AMS, but always keep the printed receipt inside the bag.

Quick tip: stop here after your gate is posted on the E monitors, not before. Gates at E can shift, and you don’t want a 12-minute backtrack with a 1.75L bottle in hand.
