Duty-free shop near most D-gates

Just past security in Terminal D, Duty Free Americas sits in the main international concourse, so you hit it on the walk to many Star Alliance and SkyTeam gates. It’s post-security, so this is only for ticketed passengers flying out of D or walking over from C or E on the airside connector. Figure 5–7 minutes from the center of Terminal C to reach it at an easy pace.

This shop leans into liquor, perfume, and cosmetics with the usual duty-free brands, plus a smaller section of chocolate and travel-sized gifts. Expect standard airport pricing: big-name whiskey and tequila bottles often under U.S. street price, but not always by much. Staff ring up duty-free sales only for same-day international departures out of IAH, so have your boarding pass ready at the counter.

Cigarettes and tobacco products sit in locked cases behind the registers, and they will check your passport and international itinerary before selling. Alcohol limits follow your destination country rules, not Houston’s, so check your allowance before you load up on 1-liter bottles. If you’re connecting again in the U.S., remember that liquids over 3.4 oz from here need to stay sealed in the official duty-free bag for TSA.

You won’t find electronics or big souvenirs here; think fragrance, cosmetics, spirits, and candy only. Lines spike when widebodies to Europe leave around evening bank times, roughly 5–9 p.m. local. If your flight boards from a remote D gate, build in an extra 10 minutes to walk from this shop to the far end of the pier after paying.
