Gate E2 sit-down option before the long-haul banks

Americana sits right by gate E2 in Terminal E, handy if you’re heading out on an evening international flight from United’s long-haul side. It’s a full-service spot, not a grab-and-go counter, so budget at least 40–60 minutes if you want to eat without clock-watching. Post-security only, so this is for passengers already through the E checkpoint.

Pricing runs in the typical IAH range: expect burgers or sandwiches in the $15–$20 bracket and basic beers around $8–$10. Menu leans standard American airport fare—think burgers, salads, flatbreads—nothing you’d plan a layover around, but fine if you want table service and a real plate instead of another $12 pre-made wrap. They usually open for the morning bank in Terminal E and stay going through the late-night departures; figure roughly 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., though hours can slide with schedules.

Service pace at E restaurants can swing hard when several widebodies board at once, especially around the 7–10 p.m. wave. If your flight from gate E2 starts boarding in 30 minutes, this is cutting it close; stick to a drink or fries instead of a full entrée. If you have a long layover in E but your gate is closer to E20–E24, add a 10-minute walk each way into your plans.

Tip: If you just want a pre-flight drink, grab a seat at the bar at Americana rather than waiting for a table; you’ll usually get your check faster and be back at gate E2 in under 5 minutes when boarding starts.
