Yia Yia Mary's Greek Kitchen

D $$$$

One of IAH’s few non–Tex-Mex sit-down spots in D

Terminal D doesn’t have many full-service options, and Yia Yia Mary’s Greek Kitchen fills that gap near the international gates with a Greek-focused menu and mid-range prices ($15–$25 mains). It sits post-security in D, so it mainly serves international United and Star Alliance traffic plus some foreign carriers using the concourse.

Figure on a typical table-service timeline here: 45–60 minutes from sit-down to paid check if you order a starter and a main. That’s slower than grabbing something at a Pappasito’s in Terminal E, but much calmer than the food courts in C North during the 17:00–19:00 bank of departures.

Menu basics stay in the Greek lane: gyros, souvlaki plates, spanakopita, and salads, with most appetizers under $12 and mains sitting in the $16–$24 range. Wine by the glass usually runs around $9–$13, and bottled beers sit a couple of dollars cheaper. Portions get described as solid but not huge, so don’t count on splitting one entrée for two adults before a 10-hour flight.

Forum regulars on Flyertalk often group Yia Yia Mary’s with other non-Pappas sit-downs as “nothing special,” especially when comparing it to the Pappadeaux and Pappasito’s outposts in Terminals A and E. If you only have time for one proper meal at IAH and care about food over proximity, many frequent flyers still point you toward those Pappas locations first.

The trade-off: Yia Yia Mary’s usually feels less slammed than Pappadeaux near A20 during peak evening rush, and you’re already in Terminal D, which cuts out an extra Skyway ride. If your long-haul flight boards around 18:30 from D, aim to sit down here by 17:15 so you’re not racing the final boarding call with a still-warm plate of lamb on the table.

Tip: Check your exact gate in D before committing; if you pull D1–D4 on the far end, give yourself an extra 5–10 minutes of walking time after you pay.
