Starbucks

C $$$$

C South’s Starbucks ends up as the backup plan for food.

This Starbucks sits in Terminal C South, after security, on the concourse that feeds the C34–C42 gates. Prices match typical airport Starbucks levels, so plan on around $4–6 for brewed coffee and closer to $6–8 for espresso drinks. It’s squarely a coffee stop in the $ tier, not a full meal solution.

Hours track early bank departures out of IAH, with doors usually open before 5:00 a.m. and staying open into the late evening departure push around 9:00–10:00 p.m. If you’re connecting through C from A, B, D, or E, this is often the first caffeine hit you see once you hit the C South corridor.

Food is the weak spot here. Regulars complain there’s “nothing substantial” beyond the standard Starbucks pastry case and small sandwiches, so don’t count on a real lunch. A warmed breakfast sandwich or protein box runs about $6–9, but portions feel light if you just got off a 3–4 hour leg.

What mileage runners do: grab a coffee here, then walk toward Real Food Company closer to gates C34–C42 for an actual sit-down plate. That combo works well if you’ve got a 60–90 minute connection and want caffeine in hand while you queue for food over there. If you’re stuck with a short 35–40 minute turn, this Starbucks plus a pastry is about all you can pull off in C South.

Watch out for the mid-morning lines that spike around the 8:00–9:30 a.m. departure wave; a latte and pastry can easily take 10–15 minutes from join-line to cup-in-hand. Tip: mobile-order through the Starbucks app as soon as you step off the jet bridge into C South, then walk up only when your drink shows as ready.
